Weld Technician | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $41,000 - $66,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain welding equipment and machinery.
• Perform various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) according to specifications.
• Inspect welds for quality, integrity, and adherence to standards.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning and grinding.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve welding issues to ensure product quality.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Fabricate and assemble metal components according to production schedules.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding preferred.
• Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of welding safety procedures and regulations.
• Experience with quality control checks and adherence to specifications.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with automated welding systems (e.g., robotic welding, submerged arc welding).
• - Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods like visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, or dye penetrant testing.
• - Certification in specific welding processes (e.g., AWS Certified Welder, ASME certifications).
• - Basic understanding of metallurgy and material properties relevant to manufacturing.
• - Experience with welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR).
