Organization Overview The biology and evolution of viruses and eukaryotes are closely linked. Dr. Paul Bieniasz seeks to define how host genes influence the replication of viruses, with an emphasis on human and primate immunodeficiency viruses. The Laboratory of Retrovirology, led by Dr. Bieniasz, seeks to characterize the host functions that viruses mimic, manipulate, and otherwise exploit, as well as the defenses cells have evolved against viral infection. Overview The Research Assistant will work on projects aiming to understand the interaction between cellular proteins, vaccines, antibodies, and viruses including HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. This work will involve experiments in molecular virology, including cloning, protein biochemistry, flow cytometry experiments and cell culture.
