Responsibilities Deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process and collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Interact with patients and their significant others while maintaining professional nursing standards. Provide direct, individualized nursing care based on scientific nursing principles, being well‑versed in a wide variety of health conditions. Actively participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives, upholding the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Provide emergency department care for patients of all ages and acuity, continuously prioritizing patients and nursing interventions amid fluctuating census and acuity to maintain safe and efficient care. Job Requirements Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, AD). Minimum Work Experience: No previous experience required. Required Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse ACLS – completed within 90 days of hire. TNCC – completed within 18 months of hire. PALS or ENPC – completed within 6 months of hire. BLS – patient contact may not begin until completed. NIHSS – completed within 90 days of hire. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Self‑initiative: active contributor to ED flow and throughput. Sense of urgency: provide safe, fast, effective care regardless of acuity or census. Adaptability: continuously adjust to meet acuity, volume, and situational demands. Professional appearance and decorum at all times; the ED is the ‘front door’ to the hospital.
