Job Description

Technical Source is seeking a Data Center Foreman to support mission-critical data center and fiber infrastructure projects for one of our telecommunications clients at the Data Center in Abilene, TX. In this role, you will lead daily field operations for structured cabling and fiber installations, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality.

This position is ideal for a senior-level Foreman or Lead Technician with strong experience in data center environments who can manage crews, coordinate with project leadership, and drive execution in a fast-paced, high-demand setting. This is an onsite role for the duration of the project.

Job Functions

Field Operations & Execution

  • Lead and supervise daily installation activities, including cable pulling, fiber installation, and pathway buildouts
  • Assign tasks to technicians and ensure productivity and quality standards are consistently met
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans to guide field execution
  • Perform hands-on support as needed to ensure project timelines are achieved

Crew Leadership & Coordination

  • Manage and mentor teams of cable pullers, technicians, and installers
  • Coordinate daily with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other trades on-site
  • Ensure proper communication of project scope, priorities, and safety expectations to field teams
  • Identify and resolve field issues in real time to avoid project delays

Quality Control & Technical Oversight

  • Ensure all installations meet client specifications and industry standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC)
  • Oversee cable labeling, dressing, routing, and overall installation quality
  • Coordinate testing activities and validate readiness for certification
  • Ensure accurate as-built documentation and reporting from the field

Material & Resource Management

  • Manage tools, materials, and inventory to support uninterrupted workflow
  • Coordinate material staging and ensure proper handling of equipment
  • Identify material shortages and communicate needs proactively

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to all site safety protocols and EHS standards
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure PPE compliance across the team
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in structured cabling or fiber optic installations
  • 2+ years of experience in a Foreman or Lead role managing field crews
  • Proven experience working in data center or critical facility environments
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications preferred

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical schematics
  • Familiarity with industry standards including BICSI, TIA/EIA, and NEC
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
