Network Security Engineer (AWS / Hybrid Environment)

Location:

Houston, TX (Hybrid – multiple office locations) - in office status: Hybrid

Pay: $65-85 per hour DOE

Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Network Security Engineer to support a complex hybrid infrastructure environment spanning cloud and on-prem systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys solving real-time issues, and can quickly make an impact.

You’ll be working across networking and security layers, supporting day-to-day operations while contributing to ongoing infrastructure initiatives. This is not a purely architectural role — we are looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting into the work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and troubleshoot network and security issues across cloud and on-prem environments
• Manage and maintain cloud networking components (primarily AWS)
• Configure and support firewalls and secure connectivity solutions
• Assist with load balancing and traffic management across environments
• Support VPN, secure access, and edge security solutions
• Partner with internal teams to ensure reliable and secure infrastructure operations
• Contribute to implementation and improvement of network security best practices

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in network security or network engineering
• Strong experience with AWS networking and security (VPCs, routing, security groups, connectivity)
• Hands-on experience with firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Firepower, or similar)
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NAT, and network troubleshooting
• Experience working in hybrid environments (cloud + on-prem)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Application Gateway)
• Familiarity with load balancing technologies (F5, A10, or cloud-native solutions)
• Experience with secure access tools (VPN, SASE, or web filtering solutions)
• Exposure to DevOps practices or automation tools
